Only one species represents Section CAREX in Renfrew County.

Carex atherodes Sprengel., Wheat Sedge

Carex atherodes is quite rare in Renfrew County known so far from only three locations. This species is distinguished by inflated peryginia with widely spreading bidentate teeth (Figure 1 and 3) and strongly pubescent leaf sheaths (Figure 2). It is found in open marshes and wetlands.
