By Grant A. Bickel, 2020

Carex viridula Michx., Greenish Sedge (Section CERATOCYSTIS)

Carex viridula is a common wetland sedge in Renfrew County. It is very frequent on riverine emergent shorelines, especially the Ottawa River. It is superficially similar to Carex flava and Carex cryptolepis but Carex viridula is generally smaller, has green instead of yellow perigynia, and has shorter straight perigynia beaks.
