Only one species represents Section HIRTIFOLIAE in Renfrew County.

Carex hirtifolia Mackenzie, Pubescent Sedge

Carex hirtifolia is quite rare in Renfrew County known so far from only one location. This species is distinguished by pubescent leaves and peryginia. It is found in rich bottomland which is rare in Renfrew County.
