A comparative study

Carex blanda Dew., Woodland Sedge (Section LAXIFLORAE)

Carex blanda is sparse in Renfrew County and favors calcareous soils. With perigynia having a short acutely bent beak, Carex blanda could only be confused with C. ormostachya. However, the bract sheath margins of Carex blanda are scabrous and the bract sheath margins of C. ormostachya are smooth (see high resolution version of Figure 2).
