Carex crinita is widespread in Renfrew County growing in most wetland habitats. Carex crinita is superficially identical to Carex gynandra; the long pendulous pistillate spikes are distinctive to both. The identity of Carex crinita can be confirmed by feeling its smooth lower sheaths.
