A comparative study

Carex crinita Lam., Fringed Sedge (Section PHACOCYSTIS)

Carex crinita is widespread in Renfrew County growing in most wetland habitats. Carex crinita is superficially identical to Carex gynandra; the long pendulous pistillate spikes are distinctive to both. The identity of Carex crinita can be confirmed by feeling its smooth lower sheaths.
