The genus Carex of Renfrew County:
A comparative study

By Grant A. Bickel, 2020

Carex haydenii Dew., Hayden's Sedge (Section PHACOCYSTIS)

Carex haydenii is sparse and apparently more frequent in the northwestern portion of Renfrew County. It grows in beaver ponds and slow moving creeks and rivers. Carex haydenii forms large tussocks that are superficially indistinguishable from Carex stricta. The inflorescence is required to confidently separate Carex haydenii from Carex stricta.
