A comparative study

Carex stricta Lam., Tussock Sedge (Section PHACOCYSTIS)

Carex stricta is common in Renfrew County and grows in beaver ponds and along slow moving creeks and rivers. It grows in large tussocks that, with time, form huge hummocks. This species can be recognized long before it blooms by the ladder fibrillose lower sheaths.
