The genus Carex of Renfrew County:
A comparative study

By Grant A. Bickel, 2020

Carex arcta Boott, Northern Clustered Sedge (Section GLAREOSAE)

Carex arcta is sparse in Renfrew County. It is different from the other species of Section Glareosae by its crowded and overlapping spikelets and a more evident serrate beak on the peryginia. Likewise, it is found in dryer, but seasonally flooded, woodland habitats; e.g., back-beaches along the Ottawa River.
