Section MULTIFLORAE

Only one species from Section MULTIFLORAE is found in Renfrew County.

Carex vulpinoidea Michx., Fox Sedge

Carex vulpinoidea is common, widespread and easily recognized with its crowded, dark green inflorescence having a very spiky nature with bristle like bracts, long and narrow perigynia beaks, and long-awned scales. It also has prominent rugose inner leaf sheaths (Figure 4). It is found in marshes and wet meadows.
