Carex stipata Muhl. ex Willd., Awl-fruited Sedge (Section VULPINAE)

Carex stipata is easily identified by its perigynia that, from either face, have an outline of a wood carver's awl. It is common and widespread in Renfrew County, found in wet woods and along streambanks.
