Schoenoplectus subterminalis (Torrey) Soják, Water bulrush
Schoenoplectus subterminalis is common in Renfrew County, found growing densely in creeks and streams. The entire plant is submerged except for the short inflorescence poking above the water surface or floating on the surface.
