Scirpus atrocinctus Fernald, Black-girdled bulrush

Scirpus atrocinctus is sparse, most frequent in the northwestern portion of Renfrew County. It is separated from the other Scirpus cyperinus complex species with its spikelets pedicelled singly or in pairs, scales blackish, fruiting late June though July and leaf width < 5 mm.
