By Grant A. Bickel, 2020

Cyperus bipartitus Torrey, Shining flatsedge

Cyperus bipartitus is common in Renfrew County. It is found in dense colonies on very wet open soils starting in late August and into October. C. bipartitus is easily distinguished from the similar but rarer C. diandrus by the color pattern on the floral scales and its lack of persistent stigmas.
