A comparative study

Carex cristatella Britt., Crested Sedge (Section OVALES)

Carex cristatella is uncommon in Renfrew County preferring alluvial soils. It has loose leaf sheaths and vegetative culms (leaves ascending the culm) and, for Section OVALES in Renfrew County, these traits are only shared with C. projecta. The spherical spikelets are unique to Carex cristatella.
