Section OVALES
Section OVALES is said to be one of the most difficult sections however, all of these species are clearly distinctive under close examination. Twelve species are listed for Renfrew County but four of these are rare or incompletely documented. The eight most common species are compared in the photographs below. Some recent flora have replaced the Section name OVALES with CYPEROIDEAE.

- Carex tribuloides (rare)
- Carex projecta
- Carex cristatella
- Carex bebbii
- Carex tenera
- Carex merritt-fernaldii
