The genus Carex of Renfrew County:
A comparative study

Carex tribuloides Wahlenb., Blunt Broom Sedge (Section OVALES)

Carex tribuloides is rare in Renfrew County. It is a species of damp meadows and open areas with an upright inflorescence although often with lax culms. It is unique amongst the species from Section OVALES in Renfrew County with its perigynia wings widest distal to the achene and looking somewhat oblong (see Figure 1).
