Carex echinata Murr., Star Sedge (Section STELLULATAE)

Carex echinata is common in Renfrew County growing in many types of open wetlands especially those that are acidic and peaty. Carex echinata superficially resembles C. interior but Carex echinata is generally larger, has > 4 spikelets and its perigynia are more triangular shaped (when viewed from front or back) with a long tapering beak.
