The genus Carex of Renfrew County:
A comparative study

By Grant A. Bickel, 2020

Carex interior Bailey, Inland Sedge (Section STELLULATAE)

Carex interior is common in Renfrew County growing in open to wooded wetlands. It resembles C. rosea or C. radiata but in contrast, Carex interior is a wetland species with gynecandrous spikelets. The larger C. echinata can be easily separated from Carex interior since C. echinata usually has > 4 spikelets and its perigynia have a longer tapering beak.
